I first met Bill in the early 1990's through Birdlands Sanctuary where we were both volunteers. We worked on many projects as part of a team where Bill taught us so much to get the job done right. Morning tea and lunch times were spent swapping life stories and having a good laugh. Bill was a great mentor to us all, a friend and an all round great work mate to us all. Glenys Robson

I first met Bill in the late 1980's when he answered an ad that I had placed looking for a retired carpenter to help me with the development of what would become Birdlands Sanctuary & Holiday Park. This became the start of a working team and friendship that has lasted until the present day. I found Bill to be one of the most honest loyal friends that I have ever had. His import and guidence in the award winning Birdlands was so significant that the project would never have succeeded without his skill, years of hard won and retained lessons in life which he shared with me especially how to put a wall fence or boardwalk in place without a tilt in it I could rattle on for ages about the pride and enjoyment that we shared over the many years that we spent developing Birdlands. Bill was a really "good bloke", it was a privilege to know him and share time with him. I will remember him for the remainder of my life and when I hope we meet again in that big sanctuary in the sky we will get the time to share a jug that we were always to busy to do before. Rest in peace Bill. Your friend and workmate
