I had the pleasure of playing tennis with Bill many times over his career. The tennis teams events were of special memories when the Canterbury´s side played against other provincial teams. Bill was a pleasure to play with and against. A very talented player who made friends wherever he went. I´ll miss you Bill Ron Bruce

A true gentleman of tennis, on & off-court. Bill be remembered for his cunning shots, perfect manners, and constant support of the game. It was great to have Kathy bring him down to the new Coldstream Tennis Courts at the end of November, to check things out and renew acquaintances. If only we had known this would be his final good-bye - perhaps he did!
Full marks to the Briony and other Kaiapoi members who supported and kept in touch with Bill, and even brought him along to the odd games to spectate.
NC Masters members will certainly gather with the family in March, to remember this great colleague.
