After a lengthy courageous battle he died peacefully on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at Diana Isaac Retirement Village. Dearly loved partner of Chris Hodder. Father and father-in-law of Laura, Emma, Patrick and Annie Kelly. Stepfather of Sarah and Brayden Cooper. Pop of Brayden, Flynn and Dylan Cooper, Mason and Marley. Moose to Philip and Hayley, Addilyn, Hudson and Lily Hodder and Cherie and Wade, Stella and Sadie Gillson. Brother and brother-in-law of Ann and Mark Johansen, Kathryn, Stephen and Karen, Owen and Angela, Jeffrey, Meryn and Neil Penno. Stepbrother to John and Helen, Murray and Anne and Shirley Wyma.
Uncle to all his nieces and nephews.

A service to celebrate Bruce's life will be held in The John Rhind Chapel, entry from Whitmore Street, Christchurch, on Thursday, March 19 at 1.00pm. Due to upcoming roadworks it would be easier to enter John Rhinds Chapel off Whitmore Street.
