William Desmond (Des):
(Reg. No. 816703). On March 6, 2021, suddenly at home, in his 90th year. Treasured and deeply loved husband of Belle for almost 70 years. Adored dad and father-in-law of Carol and Wayne, Gavin, and Robyn. Cherished grandad of Amber and Hayden, Daniel and Joelle, April and Joel, Nicholas and Savannah. Special thanks to Dr Ben Hindson and the Oncology team at Christchurch Hospital, and all the staff at Rolleston Central Health for your care of Des over the years. Messages may be addressed to The Family of the late Des Gardener, c/- PO Box 39001, Christchurch 8545. In lieu of flowers, donations to Prostate Cancer Foundation NZ would be appreciated, and may be made at the service. The Funeral Service to Celebrate Des's life will be held in our Westpark Chapel, 467 Wairakei Road, Burnside, on Saturday, March 13 at 10.00am, followed by interment at St Paul's Anglican Church Cemetery, West Melton.

Our hearts are broken, Grandad. We know you needed to go and look after the sheep, chooks and all of the bikes in the sky but we will miss you terribly. Please look after Tina, Holly, Cindy and Sophie for us and we will look after Nana. We will all be doing well if we can carry half your generosity, compassion and wisdom with us every day. I'll forever treasure the weekend sleepovers when I was little and going to garage sales together. I'll never forget how as I grew older you taught me to stand up for myself, and although you missed me, that it was ok to spread my wings. All of our love, until we meet again.
