Sending my heartfelt condolences to the Down family. I have fond memories of Bill and Mavis when Miles and I were camp parents at a Christian Children“s camp fifty years ago. Mavis was the camp cook . Many a story and laugh shared around the dining table. As a colleague at Middleton Grange I got to know Bill. He gave his wonderful testimony at a morning prayer meeting . Bill left a lasting legacy for those who knew him including many young people that he taught over the years. Miles and I enjoyed lovely social times with the Down family at Riccarton Baptist. The Kau Kau family send their love. RIP dear Bill . Now home with your Lord and Saviour.

Condolences to all Bill's family. I have great memories of Bill as teaching colleague at MG School, as a friend and brother in Christ.
He will be rejoicing with his Lord which is far better.
Christian love to you all.
Unfortunately I cannot attend the funeral today as I am in Aus.

I extend my sympathy to all of Bill's extended family but particularly to Steve, Pete and Tim at this time as you remember all the good times you had with Bill and cope with his loss. Bill was a valued colleague and friend during the time we taught at Middleton Grange. He loved life but loved God even more. He was very proud of his family and he was always keen to share what was happening in the lives of each of your families. I have particularly appreciated the time I have spent with him at Burwood Hospital and Ilam Lifecare during the past couple of years. He loved talking about his family, sport, the Bible, the love and forgiveness of God, and the eternal joy of Heaven. I saw him briefly on Thursday and the last thing I did with Bill was pray for him . As he wasn't feeling great I only stayed for a short time and we joked about which one of us was going to get to Heaven first. The extremely competitive Bill was first and he has doubtless heard already, "Well done, good and faithful servant." I will miss him but I am blessed to have known him.
