A sad day a great man and great Merrivale supporter. Shared many words of wisdom to which we all listened. Vic it's not goodbye but will see you on the field at a later date.

Uncle VIC, many fond childhood memories, however the one that always springs to mind is the night when you were driving around our neighbourhood in your security van and caught me and big sister Jill "sneaking out" and promptly took us home

Very sorry to hear that Vic has passed away - he was a lovely man. Best wishes to the family from Ken & Yvonne Cooper.

No one in the history of Merivale Rugby gave more of themselves to the club than Vic Matheson. While others sought the glory,Vic just rolled up his sleeves and done whatever needed to be done. With Maureen at his side they were a highly respected club management team, many young players were very grateful for the compassion, guidance and direction they gained from Vic and Maureen. God bless a life well lived.

To Maureen and Family- honored to have known Vic as a friend and surrogate Father. Legend of Merivale Papanui Rugby Club and mentor and supporter of our team. Will be sadly missed but leaves us with so many memories.

To Maureen and Family so sorry to hear about Vic, we have fond memories of him at Merivale Papanui Rugby Club when he would attend prize givings. He will be missed. Rest in peace Vic.

To Maureen and all the family. So sad to hear about the passing of young Vic. Vic was a great friend to all our family and looked after many of us at all times of the night and day. We will remember VIC and all the family during this time.
