Vernon GREENHAM Obituary

Of Raumati South. Senior Fire Fighter N.Z. Fire Service, #1113. (Previously in London Fire Brigade.) Corporal, 7th Battalion, Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment Band. Aged 77, after an heroic battle, Vern finally succumbed to occupational cancer on February 9, 2026, at sunset, with his family close. True love and devoted husband to Sue (formerly Susan Hansen, then Sue Ball), for 23 years. Deeply loved Dad of Stephanie, Aaron, and Hayden and Emma. Loved Grandad and great-grandad. Cherished younger brother and brother-in-law of Terry and Gwen Greenham, and Janice and David Squibb. Dearly loved "Greeny" to all of Sue's very big family. Highly regarded and entertaining colleague for 50 years, in the London Fire Brigade, then the N.Z. Fire Service. Valued mate to many friends and fellow musicians. Best friend to Freddy dog. Heartfelt thanks to the Mary Potter Hospice team, Sevenoaks staff, and all the medical professionals who cared for Vern over 4 years, and especially in recent weeks.
