Velda KELLY Obituary

After a short illness, passed away at Arvida Ilam, February 11, 2025, in her 88th year. Beloved daughter of the late Thomas and Vera Johns. Adored aunty to Murray and Tania Johns; Stephen and Lisa Johns; Robert Fowler and Marina Prior; Euan and Kimberly Johns. Friend to her wider family. A respected psychiatric nurse, initially from the Maniatoto. In lieu of flowers, donations to the St Peter's Church Restoration Fund can be made in honor of Velda. Donations can be made via online or can be left at the service. The service to celebrate the life of Velda will be held at St Peter's Church, 23 Yaldhurst Road, Upper Riccarton, Christchurch, on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at 1.30pm. This service will also be livestreamed.

So very sorry to hear of Velda passing. She was a valued friend to grandma/mum, leonie glasson at avida ilam. She was very supportive, especially in Leonies final year and we as a family really appreciated that.

My sister Karen and I remember Valda with love. She always stopped for chats. Valda was a kind person to all who crossed her path . RIP.

I will always remember Velda and she has crossed my mind often. I knew her when she worked at Sunnyside Hospital .as an outstanding nurse with wonderful fun and gentle personality. I was a Secretary in the small typing pool.
