18.09.1950 – 19.11.2025


Beloved daughter of the late Fred and Myra Jones , dearly loved wife of Hohepa and Mum to Yvette and Bob, Fred and Karen and Sharrie and Nanny to Nga-wawata o te ao, Daniel, Tish, Ryder and Zaydee Val passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at Nurse Maude Hospice surrounded with family. Val's Memorial service will be on Wednesday, November 26, 2025 11.00am at Riverside Community Church, 45 Charles Street, Kaiapoi. Koha in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cancer Society and Nurse Maude who gave Val her best care during her journey.

I worked along side Val for many years at SMHS. When I introduced Val to new staff I described her as "a person worth her weight in gold" and that she was indeed, a beautiful gentle lady.
