Theodore Powis Obituary

July 8, 1918 - October 24, 2011 We are sad to announce the passing on October 24, 2011 of our father, a well-known resident of West Vancouver for nearly fifty years. He was father to Deborah Hilton (Robert) and David Powis (Chriss), "grumps" to Kelly Ulrich (Korry) and Semana Paravantes (Nick) and "great-grumps" to Mya Jane, Kennan and Benjamin. He was predeceased many years ago by his wife Barbara and recently by his companion Dooee Greene. He also leaves behind many relatives and good friends. He was a chartered accountant who became Corporate Secretary at the advertising firm James Lovick Ltd. in the Vancouver office and then joined the Council of Forest Industries (COFI) as Secretary/Controller. A World War II Veteran, he was a very active member and Treasurer of Veterans Against Nuclear Arms (VANA). A long-term member of the Hollyburn Country Club, he was an avid tennis player who also liked to golf, swim and hike. He loved classical music and enjoyed travelling. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday November 12, 2011 at 2:00 PM at First Memorial Funeral Services Boal Chapel, 1505 Lillooet Road, North Vancouver, B.C. (604-980-3451). If desired, donations to the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra would be appreciated by the family.

Dear Ted - I very much enjoyed working with you and VANA and continue to be inspired by your dedication and your love of life. I will always remember your patience and encouragement as I brought my children to our meetings and how you always took the time to talk with them (and feed them cookies under the table!). I will remember your kindness, the happy, intelligent twinkle in your eye and how you were always ready for a laugh. I will miss our chats. Rest in Peace.
