Theodore EDWARDS Obituary

EDWARDS,
Theodore Christopher (Theo):
10 October 1999 - 24 August 2021
We are mourning the loss of Theo who died very suddenly in Christchurch on Tuesday of meningitis. Theo lived his 21 years to the full. He was a keen tramper, runner, skier, fisherman, forestry student, and mountaineer. He touched so many people's lives. Generous to the end, Theo gave the ultimate gift as an organ donor. We are incredibly heartbroken by Theo's death. But as well as mourning, we are also determined to celebrate his wonderful life and all of the joy he experienced and brought to his family and friends. In the current circumstances it is difficult to farewell Theo, but there will be events in the near future. And when we continue to celebrate and reminiscence about Theo, we will hum and sing one of his favourite songs â€" the 1967 jazz piece, “The Bare Necessitiesâ€. Especially the lines: “Don't spend your time lookin' around for something you want that can't be found… The bare necessities of life will come to youâ€. Thanks from: Juleen Saxton and Gareth Edwards (parents; Nelson), Seb and Annalise (siblings, Nelson), Val and Rob Saxton (Grandparents, Greytown), Keith Edwards (grandfather; Nelson), the late Patricia Edwards (Grannie), his aunties and uncles - Nelda and Dean, Phil and Hayley, Mark and Violeta, Louise and Malcolm, Sandy and Jeff, Bryce and Emma, Pauline and Trevor, his many cousins and Michael (best friend). Also huge thanks to the wonderful medical team at Christchurch Hospital ICU for looking after Theo and his whãnau at this difficult time.

Kia ora Juleen & Gareth, we remember meeting Theo as a young climber of staircases and trees and he went onto inherit your love of nature and the mountains. No doubt he had the best of you both - Juleen's gentle gracious kindness and Gareth's fun quick thinking perseverance. We are so sad to hear that Theo was taken so quickly by sudden illness. He was so strong and fit and loved. In a way those whom we love never really leave us. His spirit will live on even though you miss him every day. We like to think of his spirit soaring over the next mountain peak with a fresh southwesterly wind. We share your sorrow and hope that your heavy hearts will ease and come to know some comfort in time. We carry you in our thoughts, arohanui.

EDWARDS,
Theodore Christopher (Theo):
Beautiful nephew of Louise Edwards and Malcolm Wratt. Theo was such a big part of our lives. We have many treasured memories of him; taking him skiing, sharing meals, camping trips, fishing in the Sounds, family dinners, possum hunting, moving him into his student flat, going to the Beer Festival earlier this year. We loved him so much. He will also be missed by many of our friends who had the pleasure of knowing him.

August 28, 2021

EDWARDS,
Theodore Christopher (Theo):
Treasured eldest grandson of Keith Edwards (Nelson). Keith is so proud of the fine young man Theo had grown into. He is so sad he won't graduate next year with his forestry degree. He was loved so much and will be missed forever.
