I have great memories of Terry as a class mate at the Cronadun school. I didn't know then what he would achieve in his adult life. Well done Terry for giving your life so freely to help others.

A man with kindness running through his veins. When came to Kotuku in 1988 and meet Terry in 1990 with the birth of our daughter JulieBeth, when his wealth of knowledge and his dedication to his profession was much appreciated. And with oursecond child Ethan arrived, he was a daub hand at looking after all the new born babies in the Moana and Rotomanu area. He was such a gift to our rural community

Dear Family of Terry, today marks the farewell for your Terry, but he was also a valued Colleague, Friend and Teammate of our Rural Nursing `family´ on the West Coast. I first met Terry in 1992 when I took up the rural nursing role in Karamea and we were colleagues for twenty years. Terry used to come to Karamea to provide relief cover when I had annual leave, and quickly adapted to Nursing in our community, and was loved and respected by all. By that time Terry was already a legend in Nursing services in South Westland. Sadly I lost touch with Terry, last speaking with him in early 2025. He told me he was having chemo and asked me not to tell anyone. That was our Terry, an unassuming, private man, never seeking the limelight, a passionate Nurse, and a huge love and pride in his family. However I must say Terry always wanted to know what was happening in our lives. My husband loved Terry too and always remarks that somehow Terrys arrival times always coincided with mealtimes! Over the years, as colleagues, we had some lovely get togethers, and contact, always filled with numerous anecdotes, always humorous with Terry flatly denying any part in our collective escapades!.
We feel your pain and grief as a family, and although we were unable to be in Greymouth today to attend Terrys funeral we want you to know that we all agree our lives have been enriched by knowing Terry. Heather & Graham Maw

with fondness and regret .Terry was a great character Sorry to see him go. We were student nurses together at Sunnyside hospital a few years ago! I also flatted with him at Hoonhay Road .he had house rules round doing the dishes and not having girls stay overnight! I was not well trained so I moved next door. As we all know Terry was a deeply compassionate man who cared for my relatives in his rural practice over many years on the coast. a role I knew well. The rally driving huge distances to cover every appointment or get people to hospital.A really special guy with a huge heart. Thanks Terry

Terry was a truly remarkable person, a dedicated and knowledgeable Rural Nurse Specialist. Terry took me under his wing for my 2 weeks orientation as Whataroa RNS in 2005, and I always credit Terry for teaching me many skills about working and living in the small, remote communities in South Westland. Our paths crossed often, and we enjoyed a camaraderie that we both appreciated. Terry spent many years in Haast - his nursing stories were truly remarkable.
Kind regards from Liz and Mike Komen, ex-Whataroa and Haast

God Bless Terry! One of natures true gentlemen, who lived so much for others. What a career and service he blessed so many with. Recognised by the Head of State for this, but God will say "Well Done Good and Faithfull Servant...."
To his siblings, nephews and nieces, along with the sadness at Terry's passing, you must be very proud of him, and all he stood for.

A faithful colleague for so many rural nurses. Terry would arrive in his camper van to relieve us for a period of leave, instilling a perfect blend of calmness, kindness, willingness and a listening ear. There are so many special memories. I am sorry I cannot be there on Wednesday.
Requiescat in pace.

A good friend from my time of psychiatric nursing at Sunnyside Hospital and traveling with Terry to London England for our "big OE" in 1973. I'm glad we contacted again in Greymouth later. Kind thoughts and great memories.

The Kawana whanau are all so sorry to hear of our cousin Terry's passing!! While we didn't have the benefit of spending much time with him, we all felt a great aroha towards Terry. He struck us all as having a beautiful soul. While obviously a humble man, focused on service to others, he and family can be well proud of how this translated into being well-recognised for this in recent years. Moe mai raa Terry. Heaven will be lucky to have you and we are sorry to have lost you.
