Died peacefully at Holly Lea. Dearly loved husband of Jane, loved father and father-in-law of Jo Ashton-Martyn and Hugh Martyn, Kate and Richard Bell, Sue Ashton, and Elizabeth Ashton. Proud grandfather of Henry and Yangtong, Madeleine and Ethan, Sam and Anna, Tom and Zoe, Charlotte and Ash, Georgie and Gabe, William, Harriet (deceased), Charles, and Max. Proud great-grandfather of seven. Heartfelt thanks to Dr Mark Cohen, Juliane Brand and her exceptional staff at Holly Lea. Messages may be addressed to: The family of the late Sidney Ashton, c/- PO Box 39001, Christchurch 8545. A private family service has been held. A memorial service for Sid will be held at Westpark, 467 Wairakei Road, Burnside, on January 23, at 2.00pm.

To Jane and family.
My deepest condolences to you all, on the loss of Sidney.
I have the utmost respect for this man, both as a once employee, but also as a dear friend from the Solomon family. Sid had a relationship with my Grandfather, my father and myself and he also met my son, four generations from the same family.

He was an amazing man and it was a privilege to have known him so his passing is really sad, so I am thinking of you all.

Dear Jane and family, I am thinking of you. I know how hard it is even, if is expected, as my husband Chris died in July. I enjoyed working with Sid when I was working for him at Ngai Tahu.
