Scott WHINERAY Obituary
Aged 84 years, passed away peacefully at home on June 8, 2022. Devoted husband and world traveller with Maureen, much loved father and father-in-law of Erica, Janet, Matt, Fraser, Lucy, Sandra and Mark, and cherished Poppa to Stanley, Pippa, Emily, James, Tess, Ben, Jack and Olivia. Son of Ida and Bruce Whineray, and brother to Murray, Wilson, Bruce and Grant. A service to celebrate Scott's wonderful life will be held at Dil's Funeral Services, 185 Schnapper Rock Road, Albany, on Friday, June 24, 2022 at 10.30am. Masks are optional. If you are unwell or cannot attend the service, please contact a member of the family for a livestreaming link.

Dear Maureen , My most sincere sympathy to you on the passing of Scott. As a guy brushing with academia for the first time after a career in the military I was more than a little apprehensive at the prospect of a project at Massey. As it turned out I need not have worried. Working with Scott was not only a great experience - it was fun! His drive to make physics amusing and interesting to all was totally infectious. Add to that my welcome to the team and his support for the satellite projects - and for me personally - was total and truly inspiring. I greatly missed him on his retirement and feel deeply saddened at your loss. For sure. One of a kind. May he rest in peace.

I have fond memories of moderating the brilliant, humerous and insightful scholarship physics papers set by Scott. His research focus may have been chaos theory but our discussions were wonderfully concise. Regards to all the extended family.
