Thank you Ross for being you. The many years of voluntary work you did for scouting was phenomenal.
It was on one of those Venturer Achievement camps you were running where I would meet my future husband Robert. We didn't know this at the time but as I rewatch my wedding video today and listen to your speech as MC at our wedding it made me giggle and cry. You mention how Robert approached you by telephone weeks after that camp where he asked you for my phone number. Ross you were discreet and only gave out my address. Left the rest up to him.
I know Ross you would let everything take its course and it did. Thank you for coercing this relationship into us finding our soul mate. I know you took great pleasure in being our MC and having first cuddles with our first son Travis. The many years you dedicated your life to others through scouting, mentoring us young ones, running camps with camp mum and dad - the Prestages whom made beautiful meals and assisting you. It was a home away from home. Many lifelong friendships formed. I am glad you selected both Robert then years later myself on Host Corp, a camp for those whom hold their Queens Scout Award, a time we will individually cherish. We would of loved to of seen you in person one more time to really appreciate and thank you into how you have shaped our lives and made us be brave to take on different paths of employment. We have learnt from you and endeavor to still volunteer for things. May you rest in peace Ross you are one of a kind with a huge heart, a beautiful moustache and a good car salesman. Keep riding the heavens, guiding us from above.

Truly sad news, Ross was part of a great chapter in Scouting and Venturers which I will never forget and one I wish I had the chance to thank him for, however, he was one many but few that played a huge part in setting young adults lives on a pathway to our current successes.
He was a fantastic person to just chat with, be encouraged by, be supported by, mentored, look up to or know he's part of.
Thanks, Ross for being part great part of my life, I will salute you on Thursday from Auckland as I can't be in Christchurch but I know I will be well represented by my family and the brotherhood of Scouting.
My sincere condolences to Ross's family.
Yours in Scouting
David

Sometimes people come into your life for a moment, a day or a lifetime. It matters not the time they spent with you but how they impacted your life in that time. Thankyou Ross for all the wonderful memories, we will never forget you.
