Ronald Thornton "Ron" NEWSOME

Ronald NEWSOME Obituary

Passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at Burlington, aged 77 years. Ron fought his last fight courageously. Ron was the beloved husband of Lesley and a cherished father and father-in-law to Lee-anne Godfrey (Sydney), Juanita (Ria) and Philip Reddish, Christina (Chrissie) and Scott Gerrand, and Julia and Simon Tuck (Christchurch). He was a loving Poppa (Bob) to Corey and Beth, Jordan and Izzy, Dahlia and Will, Alex and Esther, Keira, Tiana, Mathias, James, and Gabe, and a proud great-grandfather to Jayla. Messages may be addressed to the Newsome family c/- PO Box 26051, North Avon, Christchurch 8148. In accordance with the family's wishes, a private cremation has taken place. A celebration of Ron's life will be held in the Junction Room at the Richmond Club, 75 London Street, Richmond on Tuesday, January 7, at 2.00pm.

It is with great sadness that we learn of Ron´s passing. The McGinity family-Wyn, Neil, Bronwyn, Stephen, and Dean-extend our sincerest condolences. Our heartfelt sympathy and love go out to Lesley, the girls, and the extended family during this difficult time.
Ron was a wonderful man, a true gentleman, and an all-round good bloke. He will be deeply missed, and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

So sorry to hear of Rons passing. Such a generous man of integrity and such a good friend to so many. Sadly I am unable to attend on Jan 7th, my deepest sympathies to you all. He will be greatly missed.
