Roger HENDRY Obituary
Suddenly at home, on April 15, 2018, in his 86th year. Dearly loved husband of the late Lorna, loved father and father-in-law of Stephen and Kathy, Phillipa, and Stuart and Debbie, much loved Pop of Sarah; Georgia, Maria and Charlie, brother and brother-in-law of Lawrence and the late Joan, John and the late Margaret. A special thank you for all the neighbourly care and support. Messages may be addressed to The Family of the late Roger Hendry, c/- PO Box 39001, Christchurch 8545. In lieu of flowers, donations to St John Ambulance would be appreciated and may be made at the service. A Service to celebrate Roger's life will be held in the Halswell Bowling Club, 301 Halswell Road, Halswell, on Monday, April 23, at 11.30am, private cremation to follow.

I have often thought of wonderful, exciting times with Roger and Lorna in our 'younger' days of parties, picnics, quietude and fun (and a little bit more fun)..... Roger .. Roger.. you were always such a warm ,quiet, patient and knowledgeable man who emitted warmth and valued sincerity... Your memory will live on .you and yours played a major part in our families growing up .. Dawn

Different people will remember you in different ways. I will remember you the way you have touched my life.
I probably never thanked you and Lorna enough for your weekly roast dinners before going to badminton even when Phillipa was overseas.
After the earthquake you helped out by agreeing to have Aussie stay with you. Thank you. Phillipa did know that Aussie ( "The Horse" to you ) had the habit of opening doors and finding the best place in the house to hang out so her fault for no warning.
I have always enjoyed your sense of humour especially when you and Phillipa start calling each other "Girl" and " Old boy ". I did often back you up on those conversations not because I agreed with you but just to keep the banter going. Sorry Phillipa.
I have just rubbed your name out of a book I had ready to pass on to you and Phillipa. Sorry you are not here to read it.
Will miss asking Phillipa " Hows your Dad"
