Roger DOWLING Obituary
Roger Hugh McCall:
Aged 77. Our beautiful dad and granddad passed away on Friday, March 24, 2017, at Christchurch Hospital. He is the adored father of Nathan, Lizzie and our very beloved late brother Keith Dowling, and devoted granddad of Keith's gorgeous children Amelia Jane and Liam Callum. Grief is so emotionally expensive but our Dad is worth every tear we spend. He brings us so much joy and fun and we will continue this in his name. Dad, a true West Coaster, selflessly chose to go straight to the crematorium to allow our close family to grieve quietly after our long and tough journey together. As his extremely proud daughter and biggest advocate he would want me to tell all his wonderful, supportive friends and family to battle for what you believe in and that everyone should read "Catch 22". Our family wishes to thank the wonderful staff in ward 20, at Christchurch Hospital, that treated dad with the upmost dignity and respect and made his end journey so comfortable. Dear Lizzie and Nathan
Roger was a best friend of mine since school in Greymouth. We went to OZ in the early 60s but lost touch when I went further afield.When I returned to N Z on visits we always got together for lunch and swopped stories, I cherish them now and learned from your wisdom.I will miss you more than you know but you will never be forgoten.

My heart goes out to Lizzie,Nathan,Amy and liam following Rogers passing.Roger was a great friend to me always there in what every way.He could pluck stories or facts out of the air with ease.He gave me a native white pine tree about 15 years ago,which now stands straight and tall, just how I will remember Roger.Strength.kindness,willingness and a quick wit was Roger to me.If I may say so he was so proud of his family and the love they shared always shone through.Lots of love Alistair
