Roger was an active member of the U3A St Albans "Adventures in Reading" Group. His passions for the sea, history and New Zealand were always to the fore. We never quite convinced him about reading fiction. His anecdotes will be missed.
Our sincere condolences to his beloved family and friends on his passing.
Sail happily into the sunset, Roger.

My memory of Roger goes back over 70 years when he was courting Val, and over the years we have had many happy times together. Our sympathy to Jan, Micheal, David and Paul, Jos and families with the passing of Roger. His pride and joy was his family and especially the rush of great grandchildren in the past couple of years. Roger had a wealth of knowledge of family and local history and the records in his writing are part of his legacy. A true gentleman and a faithful friend we remember him fondly and shall miss him. With love Jan and Brian, Wellington.

My sincere condolences to all Roger's family. His love and pride in you shone through.
I first met Roger at U3A St Albans and he was a founder member of my U3A writing group, never missing a meeting if he could possibly help it.
A kind and thoughtful man, with a real sense of humour, Roger was a very active contributor and will be sorely missed by the group as well as his family and other friends.
It was my privilege and very real pleasure to be able to help Roger fulfil his wish to see his last book, From Rakaia to Rotoiti, published: another lasting tribute to his family and to his memory.
RIP Roger
