I rememberer Rob from his student years at George House - a dashing older man with an MG and a pipe. Very sad to hear that he is dead. Condolences to the family.

You were a man I warmed to instantly, I enjoyed immensely and respected hugely. You gave and gave and we are the better for your having been here, Rob. Moe ra.

I am deeply saddened by the news. I was a friend and housemate during our university years in the early 70s. I think I owe it to Rob that I actually completed my studies. Those were hedonistic times, but Rob showed us that you could have fun whilst working hard. I remember his beloved red sports car, our visits to his family farm on Waiheke, his garlic-studded roasts at a time when the rest of us could barely make a sandwich. He was generous and kind. He was one of the good guys. I send sincere condolences to all his family.

The Vendramini/ Scott family send deepest sympathy to Rob's family at this sad time. We remember a good man,a great friendship and memorable times in those long ago golden Waiheke days.

I was a volunteer with Robin in Laos in 1999 ans 2000. i always thought what a truely natural gentleman he was. A generous and kind soul. I'm sorry I wasn't to meet him again since he left Laos at the end of 2000. My thoughts go to his family.

Rob and I were DoC conservancy planners back in the day. He was experienced,I wasn't. I remember a gentle man, who was generous with his knowledge, his take on things, and practical assistance. He has been an 'institution', so to hear of his passing is very sad and just seems very wrong. My thoughts are with Rob's family, you shared life with one of the good ones. lisx
