Robert WILSON Obituary

On Monday, September 8, 2025, passed away peacefully at Nazareth House, aged 85 years. Dearly loved brother of Elaine, John, and Peter. Many thanks to the staff at Nazareth House for their compassionate care of Robert. Messages may be addressed to: The family of the late Robert Wilson, c/- PO Box 39001, Christchurch 8545. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Society of St Vincent de Paul would be appreciated, and may be online svdpcanterbury.nz. A Requiem Mass will be celebrated in Nazareth House, 220 Brougham St, Christchurch, on Thursday, September 11, at 11.00am, followed by interment at Saint Brigid's Catholic Cemetery, Loburn Whiterock Road, Loburn, at 2.00pm.

A most wonderful man who inspired many.
He officiated our marriage at St Paul's Dallington over 57 years ago and so precious to meet and speak with him just a few months ago, God bless

Bob was a neighbour of mine on Fuller Street. I phoned the ambulance for him one day when he collapsed outside my house. From this moment we had a friendship. He told me all about his wonderful trip to Italy and meeting the Pope which was the highlight in his life. I surprised him with Cake and Gin on his 80th birthday. I also snuck Gin into Nazareth house for him (just the once). He would wander over with treats or lemons as he would head off on his walk. He loved the races and lived a minimalist life with lots of prayer. My son used his sleeping bag last week (an original Everest bag) that Bob gifted us.
Sometimes you meet someone and the time together is brief but the memories last. It was a pleasure to know you for the short time I did. Sorry that I didn't visit you recently.
