CRETNEY, Robert Sydney (Syd) - Suddenly at Pukerua Bay, Wellington, on Tuesday, October 8, 2013. In his 95th year. Son of Bertie Cretney and Jane (nee Kinvig) (deceased), Ashburton. Brother of Margaret Stubbs (deceased), Blenheim, and Ed (Ted) Cretney (deceased) Nelson, and brother-in-law of David Stubbs (Blenheim) and Joy Cretney (deceased). Uncle of Mark (deceased), Peter and Grant Stubbs, Wendy Harnett, Robyn Thornley and their spouses, John and Stuart Cretney, and Helen McEwan and their spouses. Great-Uncle of seventeen great-nephews and nieces in New Zealand and Australia. Long- time employee of Todd Motors, Wellington, and a long-time member of various science and astronomy societies. A much loved son, brother, uncle and great uncle. A very kind and private man.
