Yesterday

During the 1970s and 80s and into the 90s the Christhurch produce markets were lively places of commerce. "BROWNIE" was known and respected by the multitude of fruiterers who's business's benefitted from the quality of the bananas he so lovingly ripened. He was a hard working, respected, forthright important and integral cog in the firms he worked for.
I met Brownie, first in Park Davis then on the staff of Macfarlane and Growers Ltd. I had a great respect for him and his genuine interest in my Family's progress. Sadly we say good bye to a true identity from days gone by. My heartfelt condolences to Pauline and the Brown Family. Be assured that he will be remembered fondly by hundreds. Sincerely, Paul Rea
