Richard PIERCY Obituary

In Christchurch on March 21, 2026, aged 88 years. A treasured father to Vanessa and Amelia, beloved grandfather to Sam, Jasper, and Oscar, admired father-in-law to Julian, and Jason. A loved brother, uncle, cousin and neighbour. A dear friend to Kathy and respected hunting buddy of his NZDA clan. Pop will leave a huge void in our lives, however the memories will endure. He has taken his final journey into the wild he loved, laid down his rifle, forever at peace. Messages may be addressed to The Family of the late Dick Piercy, C/- PO Box 39127, Christchurch 8545. Friends of Dick are welcome to join us for afternoon tea and shared stories in the New Zealand Deerstalkers Association Lodge, at 599 McLeans Island Road, Christchurch, on Saturday, March 28, at 2.00pm. A private cremation has been held.

We remember Dick as a devoted father and pop, he was the quiet, steady heart of his family. Though inherently shy, his love for `his girls´ spoke volumes through his actions. He was remarkably hands-on, always the first to show up for every family event and milestone, no matter how small. Dick didn't need a spotlight to lead; he simply gave his time, his help, and his unwavering presence. I know that Ness, Julian, Amelia, Jason, and his grandsons Sam, Jasper, and Oscar will be forever grateful for the gentle, supportive man who was always there when it mattered most. Our family gatherings will never be the same! Dick will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
