Rex will always be remembered as one of the most upright, honest, caring Councillors I knew and I enjoyed working with Rex representing the Cashmere ward in the 1980's.

Rex was a caring and understanding businessman and I remember St Martins Garage from when it sold numerous brands of petrol to when it redeveloped into a fine Mobil outlet. Rex always understood my Dad who had his vehicles serviced there as did most of our family. St Martins Scout Group was also indebted to his assistance and the Garage yard was the base for many bottle drives that funded the den building in Centaurus Road. Rex was strong in his faith and "very" honest. As happy we have met so happy have we been. So happily may we part and happily meet again.
