Ray is a true hero in my mind, memories and heart. I had the utmost pleasure to work with Ray on a host of bike events where he headed up the VRA, basically protecting our bike riding participants. Always respectful, smart, funny and charming. His porridge trick will live in my heart forever. I am better for knowing Ray. With love Yvette (x-MS society)

When I was Chief Pilot of the Westpac Helicopter Rescue Service in Sydney - I needed information about what communications equipment we should install in a new helicopter. Ray was the communications officer at VRA in those days - and he spent a lot of time explaining the basics of emergency services communication systems to me. He was very generous with his time - and most importantly - his input was absolutely spot-on, useful, and practical. Aside from all his better known achievements in the VRA and the emergency services world - he made a great contribution to the integration of air assets into the wider emergency services in NSW - when he was under no obligation whatsoever help us out. It's just the kind of guy he was. RIP, sir.

A gentleman, devoted family man, and friend to so many including those who were helped by his skills and service to VRA. Our loss is heaven“s gain. Rest peacefully now Ray as you deserve.

An inspiration to me joining VRA Rescue NSW as an 18 year old. Your knowledge was vast, your skills so impressive!
I will never forget the hours you spent at Newcastle getting a radio network set up after the earthquake.
Thank you, Ray, for your decades-long friendship.
