On August 4, 2023, at Parklands Retirement Village, surrounded by his loving family and friends. Aged 81 years. Dearly loved and loving husband of Jacqui. Much loved father and father-in-law of Andrew and Jane, John and Bridget, Richard and Miwa, and Chris and Natasha. A loving and caring Grandad of William and Lydia, Olivia and Jack, Luke and Joe; Ruby, Tane, and Charlie; Lucy and Leni, and great-grandson Fergus. "Thanks for being a loving father and friend to us all." In lieu of flowers, donations in Tane's memory may be made to the Burwood Hospital Spinal Unit online, via the NZ Spinal Trust – www.nzst.org.nz. Please use "Tane" as the reference. Messages may be sent to Unit 1/1066 Colombo Street, Saint Albans, Christchurch 8014. The funeral service will be held at the Linwood Rugby Football Club, Kearneys Road, Linwood, on Friday, August 11 at 2:00pm; thereafter private interment. Deepest sympathy to Tane's family. I played against him in 1967 when he was in Temuka and he was a great guy. Our paths crossed many times later and he always found time for a chat. He was a loyal and fine man.

So sad to hear of Tane's passing. I played alongside Tane in the All Blacks. He was an extremely accomplished rugby player,
an excellent on and off field personality and wonderful contributor to rugby overall. He will be remembered fondly by many people.
