In the early 1960's Phil was on the HMNZS Pukaki with Ray ( Shiner Wright). It was doing weather patrol picket duties down to the Sth pole. The ship was regularly in and out of Dunedin. Phil spent much of his free time when away from the ship at Ray's parents Home where many of the Pukaki boys and Dunedin Nurses spent many a happy time playing the latest 45 records of the 60's eating Nana Wrights prepared food. I have such lovely memories of Phil in those days. They were such a close group of young sailors. I seem to remember Ray's parents had to sign something in order for him to stay at their home as Phil was under age to have leave away from the ship.Such lovely memories of a special young man. So sad that we lost touch over the years. My deepest sympathy in your very sad loss . Thinking of you all.
