I want to record here the tribute to Peter Savage as a pioneer in the area of Seniors Ministries particularly in relation to the Salvation Army.
He had a heart for reaching & utilising the older members of our corps and communities.
Brigadier Isabel Gale had commenced Friendship & Companion Club a legacy that lives on today.
But he took the conversation to the next level. He went on a world tour looking at what was happening around the world and wrote up a report which he shared with leadership in NZ and again with us in Melbourne at this years Seniors conference.
Such a great connector an encourager he lived what he preached and valued everyone's contribution and a powerhouse of wisdom and energy to keep doing what he loved, well into retirement.
In the last few years along with his wife Raeline Savage (who was our main speaker) Peter has traveled to Melbourne on a number of occasions and significantly added to Seniors & Disability Inclusion conferences, specific task and whatever we needed - always going the second mile.
I had a real privilege to speak in Christchurch last year and Peter was there encouraging all the way, took me on a couple of tours of earthquake ravaged Christchurch told me about the before & after Christchurch and so much of the General local and NZ TSA history and this made my presentations so much better because I could frame them within the local experience not just from local statistics.
On behalf of the Seniors Ministries team from Australia, our thanks, sympathies and heart felt prayers go to Raeline Savage, Steph Savage and the rest of his family.
Thank you for sharing him with us.

My thoughts are with you Raeline as I have been made aware of the loss of your precious husband Peter. Your leadership back in Glenfield continues to be the gift I was given to start my relationship with the living Lord who we remember at Easter.

Never can forget the Guy Fawkes evening at Wellington Wharf when I could not afford a glow stick for my son, you generously gifted us two and they lit up my son's spirit. Thank you Peter; you had a great passion for people. Rest in peace.
