RIP Peter Law - a doctor who made time and never forgot the people of Otematata, Omarama and Twizel.
Story: My father(Ron Blackstock) near the end of his life made a call to the Christchurch surgery not having made an appointment. When all prior waiting patients had been seen the receptionist spoke to Peter and said that there was a further person waiting to see him even though it was past surgery hours. Peter asked for my father's name and when informed he remembered the family surname and requested to see Dad.
After exchanging pleasantries Peter asked Dad when he last had a check up. In the Air Force was Dad's reply. Peter then proceeded to provide an update on the previous 70 plus years.

Great doc even though many only saw him when needed.
He had to remove a fish hook from my finger back in late 60s. In Otematata
RIP young man and thanks for being there when needed.

Thank you for bringing me into the world nearly 54yrs ago at Twizel Maternity Hospital...My Mum still recalls his lovely bedside manner & brought a big plate of lettuce Christmas Day for her 1971...RIP Dr Law:)

On behalf of the McPherson family I would like to pass on my condolences to the family. Peter was our family Doctor in Otematata and then Twizel & then my parents continued to see him when they moved to ChCh and continued as Patients until Peter retired. He was a fabulous no holds barred Doctor and was there for you regardless of the time of day or night. He was a big part of my life when I was about 6-7 yrs old with pneumonia, he did a house visit 3x daily for about 2 - 3 weeks to give me injections so I didn´t have to go into Oamaru Hospital. A very dedicated Doctor that was just the best. May you RIP Dr Peter Law

He was our family Doctor in Otematata and Twizel, and is still to this day the best Doctor that we ever knew. R.I.L Dr Law. Always remembered with love and fondness.

I always remember going to him after the birth of my first child in Twizel and when I went for my 6 week check up I was so embarrassed as I had all my dignity back and he put me at ease and said " Don't be embarrassed, it is just like a plumber laying a drain to me" certainly put my mind at ease.
RIP Doctor Law you were the best.

Greatest Doc ever, sorted my late husband's, Dave Hetherington,kidney problems after our 1st visit to him..we spoke of Peter often with the mist respect we could.RIP x

Very sad to hear of Dr Laws passing. Wonderful doctor, best we have ever had. Once he retired it wasn't the same and we still quite often speak of him with lovely memories. Our thoughts are with you all.

Best Doctor I ever had. Sorry to hear of his passing. Will always be remembered by me.

I believe I was around 2yrs old when I was first taken to Dr Law on the corner of Hareward and Greers Rd. Through the years he supported our mother raising 3 children on her own, not only as a doctor but also if she needed someone to support her when her growing children (the son mainly) needed a good talking to from a great male role model. He has been missed since he retired, but no where near as much as you will all miss him.
He was the greatest doctor, condolences to you the family, blessed to have had a man like him in your lives.
