Born on March 13, 1943, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, surrounded by family. Much loved father to Elise, Roseanne and Angela. Cherished big brother of Jenny and Anna, and adored Grandpa of Kate and Lucy. A kind, thoughtful, gentleman who will be remembered fondly. Saw a death notice in the NZ Herald today. I had not heard of him for many years, probably since I left Christchurch in the mid-60s. But I think it will be the Peter Hewlett I knew, we ran against each other on very many occasions on Rugby Park in the 50s and 60s, and both of us represented Canterbury, the first time being against Wellington in I think 1963. Peter was a formidable competitor. Bruce McLean.
