Dear Faye and family
So sorry to hear about the passing of Peter it was such a shock to hear about it.
You were such great neighbours to us in Parenga Place especially through the earthquakes and Peter could always put a smile on
my face and have a joke.
Our thoughts are with you Faye

Memories of a childhood friend. Peter and I played together a lot during our child hood. Peter lived in Kerrs road opposite the shop that is or was on the corner of Kerrs road and Pannell Ave. During the wars years we dug an underground hut in his parents back yard. The ground was very hard clay. All was fine until it rained. A clay lined hole does not allow water to drain easily. Perhaps instead if saving us from the Germans we may have been able to drown them instead. During November 1947 we saw a lot of smoke rising in the direction of the city, so a 7 year old and an 8 year old got on their push bikes to find the cause of the smoke we pedled up woodham road, down Worcester street extension and yet did not seem to be any closer to the smoke. Biked up Worcester street and finally got to Latimer square and felt a bit nervous about being so far away from home yet still not at the scource of the smoke so turned back for home. Just as well as this was the Ballantynes fire and it would not have been pleasant for a couple of children to witness.
In those days biscuits were purchased by weight. The grocer would purchase in returnable tins about 300mm square and 300m high. When the tins were emptied they were stored outside beside his garage ready for collections. These tins often were left with broken biscuits still in them. Not only Peter and I would raid them but I also every other kid in the neighbourhood. Many other good memories but too many to list. Peter Rest well, Malcolm

Faye, Wayne, Nicky and Michelle, it was such a joy to have caught up with Peter before Christmas, it was a joyful and fun time. Such a loving man. Marriage of 56 years, together for 60 years a love that will hold strong with you all. He loved you all that was so evident. My thoughts are with you all at this incredibly sad time and will be here for you.

Dear Faye & family, including Jazz. Maurice and I are so shocked and saddened to hear of Peter's passing. He was a great friend. We had just received an email from Peter the night before he passed away, (a hard case email too I might add) so this has made it so much harder to comprehend what has happened. How quickly life can change. Peter you will always be remembered. Gone too soon.
