Peter BENNIE Obituary
On January 24, 2017, at Christchurch Hospital, aged 58 years. Loving husband of Bronwyn, father and father-in-law of Courtney and Nathan, son of the late Betty and Matt, twin of Jean, brother of the late Elaine, son-in-law of Ngaire and the late Joe, brother in law of Tony, Nicky, Paul, Phil and Steve, and uncle to Paula, Tania, Callum, Richard, Ian, Patrick, Brehan, Scott, and Jeffrey. Thank you to all the staff at Les Mills in Cashel Street and at Christchurch Hospital ICU. Messages may be addressed to 'The Bennie Family', C/- 19 London Street, Christchurch 8013. A service to celebrate Pete's life will be held at North New Brighton Community Centre, 93 Marine Parade, on Tuesday, January 31, at 9.30am.

I'm shocked and saddened to hear of Peter's passing. I worked with Peter many years ago (late 1990's/ early 2000's) and I respected him greatly. His quiet manner, helpfulness, and good humour always brought a smile to my face and he was a pleasure to work with.
I can't count how many people around me, who I had no idea knew Peter, shared this terrible news with me, all as shocked and saddened as I was - it's then you realise how many lives Peter touched and how widely he was known and respected.
My thoughts are with his family first and foremost, but also with his friends and work colleagues. His was surely a life worth celebrating, taken too soon.
