As a student at Ash College, Peter started a tramping group and invited me along on many trips. On leaving school he continued to invite me on tramping and climbing trips ,including the Erewhon Mountaineering Clubs jubilee expedition to Kashmir India. Peter had a huge influence on my life as a role model, his care and encouragement, his humour, and his love for the mountains, A great man.

Fond memories of Peter (and family) as a neighbours across the creek in Belt Road for many years. Such a nice man as a neighbour, teacher, and cricket coach to me in my younger years. I know Peter was admired for many more qualities to many other people. It was great to catch up with him 2 years ago at Belt Road. Heartfelt condolences to Al and Rob.

I can remember Peter with great affection. He was my science teacher for 2 years at Ashburton College in late 60s and was very knowledgeable. He also took us on a few tramps and it was always a real learning experience. He was a very skill;led photographer and had accompanied Sir Edmund Hillary in the Himalayas (Including Everest) and to Antactica. I admired him greatly. RIP
