I am Penney's cousin, Lyla's daughter. I did not know Penney very well and have only seen her a couple of times over the last 20 years or so. I always knew she was part of our wider family, and I was shocked to hear that Penney had passed away, she was so young and should have been enjoying a long and happy retirement. I want to send my very sincere and heartfelt condolences to Penney's immediate and wider family during this very sad time. I hope you have been reminiscing about all the happy times you have had together. Arohanui, Margaret

Please accept our deepest sympathy in the loss of your much loved Mum. Les worked with your Dad at the Prison and we remember spending time with them in the boat and crib in TeAnau. Memories are precious, and you will all have plenty to help you through this difficult time. As we now live in ChCh, we are unable to attend Penney's funeral, but will join you via livestream.

I was so sorry to hear of Penney's sudden passing. I was only talking to her in pac n save last Wednesday and she filled me in on what was happening in her life... Life was good.
She was a person with such a big heart, and was always interested in people.
My thoughts are with you all at this very sad time.

Sorry for your sudden loss. Penney was a thoughtful, friendly and caring neighbour to my parents. As a fellow teacher easy to relate to. A real pillar of her family. My condoléances at this time dealing with the gap she will leave in your lives.

Penney was my cousin less than a year older than me and she would come out to visit us and her paternal grandparents in Hororata. Likewise would visit them in Christchurch. Penney was athletic and intelligent. She moved to Invercargill with her husband John and as I was living on Stewart Island for a couple of years I was able to visit her and meet her young children. She was always the friendly welcoming family member she had been as a kid. I will miss her and am sorry her children have lost both parents at a relatively young age within a few years.
