Father Shannahan married us in 1981, and we have maintained contact through the years. We had a very meaningful time together in Christchurch in 2021. He will be missed, but we know that he is with Jesus. What a wonderful Christian witness he was to all. Jacqui and Richard Burne

My deepest sympathy to Fr Shannahans sister and the wider family. Fondly remembered, well liked and deeply respected in my early Sacred Heart College years as our religion teacher and on school camps-tolerant and kind.

My sincere condolences to all the Family, Relatives Friends and Colleagues of Father Paul Shannahan. I remember him as a spritely young curate at Island Bay, Wellington, in the 1960s, and later as the enthusiastic driving force at the Catholic Enquiry Centre. May he rest in peace.

Fr Paul was a marvel and a much loved priest and friend to the Coupers. We loved him for his service to us all out at Little River and Banks Peninsula. When Paul came to the area he visited every house or farm around. He loved seeing all the roses and gardens as well as spreading God's love wherever he went. RIP we will miss you! I wish to pass my regards and prayers onto his family who will miss him so much.

Fr Paul, dear friend and priest, you were always delightfully cheerful, caring, hard working and full of fun as you cared for all of those you came in contact with, and especially converts. Many fond memories of your time at St Annes Manurewa.
