Patrick CHAPMAN Obituary

Officer of the Order of St John.

On October 14, 2025, unexpectedly at home, aged 76 years. Dearly loved and treasured husband of Mala, and former husband of Karyn Dimond. Much loved Dad of Damian and Rebecca; loved brother and brother-in-law of Kelvyn and the late Lesley Chapman, Lynda and Harry Deans, Carol Beechey and Trevor Farr, and Alistair Dimond; and loved uncle of all his nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Pat was a jovial, dedicated and knowledgeable man who will be greatly missed by family, friends, and colleagues. Messages may be addressed to the Family of Pat Chapman, c/- PO Box 26051, North Avon, Christchurch 8148. No flowers please, but donations for St John would be appreciated and can be made online at www.stjohn.org.nz. A service to celebrate Pat's life will be held at the John Rhind Chapel, entry from London and Whitmore Streets, Richmond, Christchurch, on Thursday, October 23 at 10.00am, to be followed by a private cremation.

Thank you Pat for looking after my dad when he lived next to you and Mala in Glenrowen Ave. Always there for a chat and mow the lawn.

So sad to hear of Pats sudden passing. We go way back with St John and I have always enjoyed his friendship and bright enthusiasm for helping people. I was looking forward to him showing me around the heritage vehicles. I'm sorry I could not attend the funeral.

My condolences to Pat's family.Due to the weather today I will not be at Pat's funeral.Meet Pat in the mid 70's at Mount Cook Landlines and more recently at various Mount Cook functions. He was a knowledgeable and kind work colleague.What I would describe as a really good bloke. RIP my friend.
