Patricia TOWNSEND Obituary

On Monday, December 29, 2025, at Christchurch Hospital after a recent illness, peacefully passed away. Much loved wife of Kevin. Cherished mum and mum-in-law of Sarah and Melissa, Simon, Katrina and Terrance. Loved sister and sister-in-law of Gay and Gary Canham (Melbourne), and Ross Townsend (Christchurch). Adored nana of Blake, Joshua, and Ben. A treasured friend to many. Will be sadly missed. Messages for the Townsend family may be sent to 58 Coleridge Street, Sydenham, Christchurch 8023. A celebration of Trish's life will be held at the Canterbury Chapel, cnr of Linwood Avenue and Keighleys Road, Linwood, Christchurch, on Wednesday, January 7, at 10.00am.

This notice caused a pause in thought and a time of quiet reflection of my primary school classmate and the family over the road in Longfellow St. Patricia and I were together in class for our first school years and played together as children. Her accordion playing always impressed me. Our pathways diverged inevitably. My sincere condolences to her sister, Gay, and the Townsend family. I feel Patricia was too young to leave this earth.
