Patricia McALAVEY Obituary

On September 29, 2023, passed away peacefully at Somerfield House; in her 92nd year. Dearly loved wife of the late Bill McAlavey. Much loved Mum of Diane and Max Norrell, Stephen and Jess, Bruce and Shelley, and Philip. Loved and adored grandmother and great-grandmother of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A heartfelt thanks to the amazing staff at Somerfield House for their wonderful care and support. Messages to the McAlavey family c/- PO Box 111-01, Christchurch 8443. A Service to Celebrate Pat's life will be held in the Academy Funeral Chapel, 65 Main South Road, Upper Riccarton, on Thursday, October 5 at 11.00am.

Genuinely saddened to read of Mrs Mac´s passing today - what a great innings!

She was a huge support and friend to our mum (late Margaret Wright), as well as being an amazing neighbour for nearly 60 years, and probably between the two of them "the Avenue Police who shared local intel´ for that entire time too! Nothing got past them!

I know things were a wee bit tough over recent years with her health and pleased that she received such wonderful care from the staff at Somerfield House.

Regretfully am unable to join you in Chch on Thursday, but know that my thoughts are with you, along with very fond memories of Mrs Mac on her bike, and an eye through the curtains.
