I will miss my lovely friend Max. Our friendship began in ED many years ago and continued to her last days. Max knew a good coffee and we would catch up at the best locals. We shared many interesting conversations on the state of the world, what we were reading and watching on TV, our favourite recipes and much more. She was a good listener. Her home was always open with a welcoming smile. When asked how she was she´d give a bit of info then it was `that´s enough about me.. what´s happening with you?´, with minimal complaints about her challenges. She will leave a gap in many lives. Rest peacefully Max.

Dear Jane and Jason,
Sincere condolences on the loss of your beautiful Mother Maxene.
She loved her children and made that abundantly clear!
Maxene and I were co-workers in the emergency department and we were good friends as well. Our days off were rarely coincident but we did have many lunch dates and cinema dates together. I always called her my red-headed Joanna Lumley. Maxene was such a lovely and elegant woman!
Maxene had this thing about her - she exuded an atmosphere of calm and assurance. I always felt safe when she was in the department. She was so damned competent.
We lost touch when I retired before her and moved to Oamaru and then to Ashburton. I wish we could have had some fun years together before she became ill.
So well loved. She will be loved in Heaven.
Sincerely,
Rosemary Russo

Deepest Sympathy to you All. I have fond memories of Maxine as we made contact in later years & had lunch together with other ladies from Rangiora. We shared lots of memories & laughter. Thinking of you all at this sad time
