Noeleen DAVIES Obituary

After a long and courageous battle, our cherished Noeleen has finally gone to her forever resting place, free from pain and suffering. She left this earth peacefully on Sunday, April 6, 2025, surrounded by family. Dearly loved partner of Ken Thompson, and devoted wife of the late Don Davies (Parker). Treasured mother and mother-in-law of Brent and Theresa, Mel and Rob, and Rodney and Tania. Adored Nanna of Carly, Katherine, Quinn, Jonté, and Lucy. Great-grandmother of Eve, and Riley. A fun loving, dear and special friend to many. While our hearts mourn the loss, we take comfort in knowing she is now at peace. Her song has ended, but the melody plays on. Thank you to the wonderful staff at Chatswood Retirement Village for their care and compassion. Messages may be addressed to: The family of the late Noeleen Davies, c/- PO Box 39001, Christchurch 8545. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Salvation Army would be appreciated and may be made online at salvationarmy.org.nz. The funeral service in celebration of Noeleen's life will be held in our Westpark Chapel, 467 Wairakei Road, Burnside, on Saturday, April 12, at 10:00am. Ken was the sailor, but you were the Captain of your ship, matriarch, carer, leader, ensurer of all to the family. To now have you and Parker (Uncle Donald.... our most handsome Uncle) both gone, is going to leave many, especially Brent, Mel, Rod, rudderless, flailing for some time.
.. and the service for you Aunty Noeleen, was beautiful... and I'm so very proud to be related to you all. Mum was upset she couldn't make your farewell. You went through the decades together in Cheviot. So much love to you All.

Noeleen, of "that man needs a hug" fame.I consider it an honour and a privilege to have met you. Your smile and laughter will be sadly missed as you brought happiness and joy on every occasion. Fortunately the man who needed the hug "Ken" became your loving partner. I offer my deepest condolences to all Noeleen's family and partner Ken, on this very sad occasion. Nana Noel´s as you were known to us. Your laughter and cheeky smile would light the room, the way you could flick a look across the table when you didn´t agree with Dad, always treated us with respect, loved upon us and no doubt were the reason Dad remembers all the birthdays.
Love you always.
