I was so sorry to hear of Natalie's death. I first met her when she worked at Antarctic NZ and I worked for another government agency. She was so lively, warm and friendly and very bright and later I discovered a great speaker. I enjoyed catching up with her at history events in recent years and especially enjoyed her Shackleton talk in 2012. I send my sympathies to George and her family.

I am so sorry to learn of Natalie's death. I met her in 2009 on my first return to New Zealand since 1967, when I was in the U.S. Navy en route to Antarctica. Natalie helped me make donations to Canterbury Museum, and guided me to persons who updated me on present-day Antarctica.

Dear George and family. The service for Nats was lovely, and I felt privelidged to have known her. We worked together at CERA where everyday no matter what there would be laughter, cups of tea and time for a chat. She was the most caring and generous person and is missed by many. take care

My deepest condolences to George and family, i knew Nats throught the Antarctic Soceity and am deeply saddened by her passing. Natalie was always so positive and sensible. I remember fondly a tour she gave behind the scenes at the Canterbury Museum highlighting items in the Antarctic collection. Her knowledge of the collection and delight with those items associated with animals was inspiring - such as the pony snow shoes and dog parachute. I will miss her.

I am so sorry to hear about Natalie's passing. I recently caught up with Natalie at a meeting at my work, The Canterbury Community Trust, and was looking forward to crossing paths again soon. Our lives kept intersecting on and off, since we went to the same high school, and then both studied Craft Design at CPIT. She was a very smart cookie with many strings to her bow. Natalie was also friends with my brother Jonathan who died just over a month ago. They met while at Uni and both loved tramping and the outdoors. So sad she has gone.

Hi George, did not get a chance to talk to you other than briefly but you are in my thoughts. Today was a beautiful service for a beautiful person - you did her proud. I will miss her smile that lit up the room, the inescapable hugs, the unstoppable determination when she transformed into the beautiful angry gnome, and the laughter/snorting when hilarity overcome her. She was a great friend and I will miss her. Love and hugs, Simon Taylor.

So very sorry to hear this sad news. Natalie was my first contact with Antarctica NZ, several years ago now. It was wonderful to meet her in person in 2011, when she introduced my PCAS group to the Canterbury Museum. Her welcoming and kindly nature will be very much missed.

Natalie was a hero in the true sense of the word. She was ALWAYS kind, supportive and generous. I never knew her to ever forget to think about other people and want to help them, even when she was under pressure herself or going through a tough time. Her approach to others was inspiring to us all, and it is a reason why she is in the hearts of people all over the world, including us here in Rwanda.

Dear George and Cadenhead Families

We are so sad to hear about Natalie and know you will all miss her beyond measure.

Andrew and I have fond memories of time spent with Natalie on shared holidays at Totaranui and, more recently, on our adventure through the Milford Track with the Cadenhead clan. Natalie's sense of fun and determination to make the most of life made her a pleasure to spend time with.

Love and condolences to you all

Natalie, such a warm soul and a very great loss. She had such a bouncy disposition and remained staunch through all of adversity faced in the recent quakes. Natalie's friendliness, abundant enthusiasm, knowledge, editorial expertise and willingness to assist in all endeavours Antarctic was extraordinary - she lived up to the words of Ernest Shackleton: “Superhuman effort isn't worth a damn unless it achieves results.” Her passing is deeply felt by members of the NZ Antarctic Society and the broader Antarctic community. Natalie, herself, was an Antarctic treasure. We will miss you.
