With great sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Murray on Monday, October 20, 2025, aged 89 years. Beloved husband of Doreen, father of Fiona, Robyn and Matt, grandfather of Zach, Stan, Cameron, Mila and Baie, father-in-law of Nancy and Simon and brother of Warren. His warmth and generosity will be greatly missed. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Murray's wide group of friends and family and to the staff at Edith Cavell for their wonderful kindness over the past year.

We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Murray Vance, a respected mentor, colleague, and friend.

Murray´s guidance and support touched the lives of countless principals and teachers across the Mid and South Canterbury region. His wisdom, compassion, and steady leadership helped shape not only strong schools but also confident educators who continue to carry his influence forward.

Murray had a special gift for seeing potential in others and encouraging them to strive for excellence while staying true to their values. His legacy of kindness, professionalism, and dedication will long be remembered by all who had the privilege to work alongside him.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to Murray´s family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to have known him. His impact on education and the many lives he uplifted will never be forgotten.
