At home on Tuesday, November 25, 2025. Aged 92. Dearly loved husband of the late Sally and partner of Yvonne. Much loved father and father-in-law to Victoria and Grant, Jock and Nicky, Annabelle and Brian, Peter and Lisa. Treasured grandpa to Alice, James, Hannah, Michael, Emily, Penelope, Isabelle, Thomas, Henry, Emma, William, George, Ben and Anna, and loved GGpa to 19 great-grandchildren. A life well lived. A service to honour Michael's life will be held at Lychgate Funerals on December 4, 2025 at 11.00am. I grew up with Michael in Christchurch, went to school with Sally, & ended up living in the next door Apt to him at Chaffers Dock for last 11 years!
We kept an eye on each other as old mates, & I kept him smiling with my Sammies!
Yvonne has been such a special soul mate to him & we will all miss him here at Chaffers.....but what a wonderfully full life he had!

So sorry to hear of Michael's passing.
Thinking of you Yvonne - we will have the memories of the "Law Graduation Class of 1959" dinners in ChCh from 1994, 2009 etc.

I was so sad to hear about Michael. I got to know him once he was retired and was living at Chaffers Dock. He became a dear friend. I loved his intelligence, humour and zest for life. A loyal friend.
Thinking of you Yvonne, your family and all of Michael´s family.
I´m sorry I can´t make the funeral, but I´ll definitely be watching the live stream.

Very sad to hear about Michael. Such a special and kind man. He and my late father Michael Whatman were primary school friends in Christchurch and had kept in touch.
