Ironically as I read this sad notice an earthquake quivered beneath, perhaps clear evidence the death of a legend has wide reverberations, not the least of which is grief which I share with Mick's loving family at this difficult time.
Iam really scratching to identify a more respected bloke in the Mid Canterbury region and beyond during my 10 years service to the area. A fine, principled and respected gentleman.
It is a true legacy when a smile graces your face at the recall of a loved one. Smile for Mick, respect his huge heart, love and achievements. He lives on in no small way in you good people.
May the hand of God guide him well. RIP

Deepest sympathy to all. A tough opponent at Easter Tournaments in the 1960's + 70's and a great bloke. (After the game.) May God bless him and you all. Jim Costello, Greymouth Marist.

One of the greats.Faithful and honest always to principles, beliefs and friends: outstanding sportsman ,tough but fair, never say die on the field and then your mate off it who might have been an AB with more kg.Mick was a superior man whose loyalty extended to telling you what he thought of any given situation without fear or favour but also kindly without malice. Leaves a very proud legacy
