WOOTTON, Maureen Joyce
(nee Lane) Registered Nurse, BA Social Sciences, hardworking and dedicated, originally from Marsden, Greymouth - On May 27, 2013, in her 77th year, quietly slipped away at Windsor House, Shirley. Dearly loved eldest daughter of the late Len and Joyce Lane, of Marsden, West Coast, dearly loved sister and sister-in-law of Colin and Kay Lane (Tokoroa), David and Kay Lane (Gin Gin, Australia), Jillian and Don Johnson (Fernside, Rangiora). Beloved mother to five talented children...in order of age, Sally Lane (Nelson), Mark Wootton (North Shore, Auckland), twins Nigel and Tania Wootton (Christchurch), and youngest Gregory Wootton (Albany, Auckland), including five much loved dogs eg czarine. Mother-in-law to Misako Kataoka (Japan), Mathew Dodd (Nelson) and Julian Robertson (Christchurch), a much loved special aunt to Pauline Lane (Wellington), loved cousin and lifelong friend of Pat Cooper and Virginia Wilson. Special and loved grandma to twins Jonathan and Christopher Whiteside, Garion Phillips, Daniel and Adam Looney/Wootton, Alastair Jamison Lane, Tim and Ben Dodd, Tayla and Aiden Robertson, Luke Campbell/Wootton, and Nina and Ethan Kataoka/Wootton, and great-grandma to Leila, additions to this list are currently awaiting...4 weeks to go. Maureen would like to say tremendous thanks and appreciation to so many, after a long and successful up beat and fun battled life. She would like to acknowledge all her friends, however a special, I love you, to Gwen Sadler (her schoolhood friend) in Nelson, and Joy Sixtus who was always there for her at the end of the phone after an exhausting day. Special thanks to Oncologist Dr David Gibb, and Dr Phillipa Ryan and their teams for all their help. A massive thank you to the team at Windsor House (too many to mention), who with care and love supported her to the end, through good times and bad. A massive thanks to all her Oncology Nursing friends, who kept her supported for many, many, years, Glynis Cummings, Elizabeth (ET), Chris, Sue and Vanessa and so many more.....you know who you are. Her children would like to thank the team at Windsor House (carers for mother, as well as colleagues), who supported them in the last days right through. Special huge thanks to her friends that supported Tania and Nigel over the past difficult year, your help was appreciated, and will never be forgotten. Especially Glynis Cummings and Elisabeth who took mum out a lot, and Sue and Vanessa for that short bread (Oh, it had to be said did it not), Pat Cooper for your strength, and all those who assisted us through this time. It is with much sadness that we will lay her to rest in the AvonPark Chapel (formerly Kerrs Road), corner Kerrs and Pages Roads, Linwood, on Tuesday, June 4, at 2.00 p.m. Come earlier if you wish to see her, or place items i.e. photos, items of remembrance in with her.
