Remembering Matt who passed away suddenly at home on January 2, 2026, aged 82 years. Dearly loved husband of Louise, and loving dad to Karen, Andrew, and Amanda. Adored grandad to Leo, Max, and Isla. Treasured father-in-law to Brendon and Tim (deceased). Beloved brother to Alwyn Hawkins (deceased), and brother-in-law to Andrew, Kwun, and Daniel. Cherished grandad to fur baby Sonny. Matt will be deeply missed by all his family and friends in New Zealand and abroad. Many thanks to the first responders especially the Wellington Free Ambulance for their care and support of Matt and Louise. A service celebrating Matt's life will be held in Kapiti Coast Funeral Home Chapel, 9 Hinemoa Street, Paraparaumu, on Wednesday, January 14 at 11.00am, followed by a private cremation. The service will be livestreamed and can be viewed via the following link www.kcfhstream.nz. fFirst met Matt and Louise many years ago when we both first joined our Probus Club. Through the many activities we were all joined in it was always a great pleasure to meet, talk, share a few laughs at our various events. Matt to me, was a gentle soul and I, and my wife Helen, were saddened to learn of his passing. Louise, it was good to meet up with you and your two children Karen and Andrew over the weekend at the Columbus. We join with you and your family to remember a lovely friend.
