On Friday, April 10, 2026, aged 50. Husband and best friend of Kate, Papa to Clem, brother of Tim Arnold, and son of Richard Arnold and Ros Barkey. Loved son-in-law of Doug and Gill Archbold, and brother-in-law of Arch and Ana. A dear friend, colleague, and collaborator to countless more. Matt will be farewelled - predictably - in two of his favourite buildings on Tuesday, April 21. The funeral will be held at 1.00pm at Harewood Chapel, followed by a celebration at the Limes Room, Christchurch Town Hall. Messages can be sent c/- Sons & Co, PO Box 213, Lyttelton 8841.

I read abbout Matthew's sad death in the Christchurch Press yesterday. I am blown away by the fact that mention is made of Tim Ross an Australian designer who said "Matt had a left-of-centre charm that quietly filled a room; his gently delivered jokes crept up on you" wrote Time in the Press article. It so happens I know Tim's parents well and have done for over 60 years. How amazing is that. Sadness at this time of loss for you all and on behalf of Tim & his parents. Marlene Rohan, Christchurch
