Hello Carole
Many thanks for your remembering, now a year today and I don't want to remember it, but it creeps up and again I am to my knees with grief .... My mammie.. Oor Mammie... Our light and rock through the years, a very special stoic independent, spirit a closet romantic, she so loved our children, and had a special spot in her heart for all of us...without a letting us know too much! I will never forget her reaching out to hold my hand just the night she began passing and I was so glad my daughter was there to witness that moment, it was a precious precious moment to me and I will hold it deep in my heart, again Carole thanks you for all your care, love and respect, it is awesome, what a great friend!

Another month without you here in physical presence Mum, but having your spirit all around is wonderful, I came across a photo that Ronnie must have taken with you, myself, Shay and wee Harlem sitting round your chair with the wee one on your knee, and you look so happy, it made me feel better today. The world is certainly emptier without you hen, and I miss you so much, thank you for allowing me to take care of you, what a privilege!

Talking about you today Mum to two other colleagues who have also recently lost their mums and two others who are taking care of their mum's, my biggest regret is our lack of times, I wish we had more time Mum, just to enjoy our family together when Mary-Ellen got home, and more time with all the children from around the both islands., I'm missing you so much hen, your cheeky grin, your wise counsel, just your entire presence in our lives wee Bailey says she misses you a lot and has done some new drawings about you, she is getting ready for school with Macayla and James and is excited about it. Rest peacefully Mum, we'll be together again soon, Linda xx

To all the Mackie family, thinking of us all as we go through the days, and thanking an amazing woman for all of her commitment, strength, resilience, perseverence and loyalty, her heritage to us, her many stories of youth during the war and beyond, thanks Mum for your companionship over the past 7 decades, you are sorely missed, at last you are at peace in the arms of our mother earth, and protected by our heavenly father.Love Linda xx
