Mary HOWDEN Obituary

Passed away peacefully at Granger House, with loving family by her side, on March 6, 2026, aged 90. Dearly loved wife of the late Digger, loved mum and mother-in-law of James and Jennifer, Rosemary and Noel Hende, and David and Barbara, cherished Nana of Jason and Sarah, Melissa and Scott, Rory and Dawn, and Tegan; Nathan and Barbara, Michael and Shelley, and Shannon and Katrin; Jacinda and Sonny, Stayc and Adam, and Ben and Alana, loved 'Nana Mary' of 21 great-grandchildren, beloved member of the Sherlock and Howden families, a loved aunty, cousin, friend, and a special treasured friend of the late Sylvia Hibbs. Mary was a life member of the CWI having just received her 60 Year Service Badge. Messages to the the Howden Family, 25 Moorhouse Street, Ross 7812. The family would like to acknowledge the dedicated staff at Granger House for their loving care and support. A Requiem Mass for Mary will be celebrated in St Patrick's Catholic Church, Tainui Street, Greymouth, on Wednesday at 11.00am, followed by burial in the Karoro Lawn Cemetery.

Sending our love and condolences to all the Howden family from the Leitch clan .
I only meet Mary a couple of times and spoke to her a few times on the phone . I found Mary to be a treasure. She was very knowledgeable about family history . I would have liked to be there tomorrow with you as you celebrate Mary´s life but can´t get there ! I´m sending our love and thoughts to you all from Gummy jr´s side of the Leitch family ,.
